Course Overview:
“Children’s Social Care and School – The demands of school and social care” is a comprehensive and CPD-accredited training session that aims to help participants recognise the clashes and adverse impacts that occur between social care and school systems, with a focus on the impact this has on the well-being and educational achievements of young people. This course equips participants with theory-based approaches to enhance educational outcomes, attachment and trauma-aware approaches to behaviour management, and effective communication tools to support young people.
Participants will explore theory-based approaches to improve the educational achievements of young people. By examining the intersections between social care and school systems, participants will gain insights into the challenges faced by young people and develop strategies to bridge the gaps and create a supportive and conducive learning environment.
The session emphasises attachment and trauma-aware approaches to managing behaviour. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of attachment needs and trauma on young people's behaviour and emotional well-being. They will acquire practical skills to recognise and respond to unmet attachment needs, creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes positive behaviour management.
Additionally, the course provides participants with essential communication tools to help young people manage their behaviour effectively. Participants will learn strategies for effective communication that empower young people, promote self-regulation, and foster positive relationships.
The impact of exclusion, reduced timetables, and behavioural management on a vulnerable young person's learning is a key focus of this course. Participants will explore the implications of these practices and interventions on educational outcomes and well-being. Strategies for supporting vulnerable young people in navigating these challenges will be discussed.
